Ciphered photos is a simple to use tool especially created to help you encrypt your images so no unauthorized person can access them.
The application displays a user-friendly interface which makes it easy to load the images, cipher and view them. To encrypt a photo, all you need to do is select the ‘Cipher’ function, enter the code and then choose the images you want to lock. It’s a good idea to save the codes you use somewhere in a text file because you need them to decrypt the photos and since the minimum number of symbols required for a code is 30, it’s quite hard to memorize it.
The entire process takes but a couple of seconds and once you add the code you can encrypt as many photos you want. Ciphered photos uses that code to mark the images in a unique way so they can’t be opened even if the image is inserted into another instance of Ciphered photos on a completely different computer. A bit of an inconvenience when it comes to entering a different code for another set of images is the fact that you have to restart the application.
Ciphered photos also comes with a viewer that allows you to browse through the images that are located on your computer by using either the buttons in its interface or keys on your keyboard.
From the viewer window, you are able to compress a photo, resize it, convert it to formats such as BMP, JPEG, GIF, TIFF and PNG, but you can’t send any to be encrypted. It’s a bit strange that you can’t do that but at least you also get to set the currently opened photo as a wallpaper.
All-in-all, Ciphered photos is more than just a small photo encrypter. It’s also a photo viewer and to a certain extent, a manager as well.
