First time running the application requires you to specify a keyphrase which is used to keep all your settings and data intact. It then minimizes to the tray area, where it can sit most of the time, since the encryption process is mostly automated. However, it doesn’t start until you activate the encryption engine.

It’s a good idea to pay a visit to the settings panel to configure general behavior options and hotkey commands. Here you can assign different keys to actions like starting the encryption engine, opening encrypted text in an editor, or saving to file. Moreover, you can pick from several algorithms like RC4, Blowfish, Rijndael, Twofish, and Tea.

Note that the default text editor is not set so you need to do this as well. Additional options can be used to clear the clipboard after text is process, and whether or not to maintain line spacing. Apart from automated encryption, the application also comes with a dedicated tool which can process any kind of file. It’s based on the same keyword, so even if you change it you need to know the one used in the first place.

By default the application doesn’t start with Windows. In fact, there’s no dedicated option to enable this, but you can bypass the issue by manually adding a shortcut to the System startup folder so that it’s ready by the time you reach the desktop.
