In case you are commonly using a console app to perform most of the tasks on the computer, then there is a good chance that you may want it to start with Windows. As the name suggests, CmdStartup is a tiny tool designed to help you automate the startup of Command Line when booting the PC.
This is not an application per se, but rather a script that has the role of modifying a registry key and enabling the autorun feature. This is the same reason why it does not include an interface or any settings.Simply run and the script will change the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor\Autorun registry so that you have the default console run at boot.
Considering that this entails editing registry keys, it is recommended that you create a backup first. The backup can also come in handy if you happen to change your mind and want to remove the autorun. It is important to note that the script solely enables the autorun and the developer does not specify anything about making the changes back. As a result, reverting autorun entails deleting the registry key.
There are numerous situations when the application can come in handy, especially when you are attempting to fix various Windows issues. For instance, if you are trying to troubleshoot an OS issue that causes Windows not to boot, you can use Command Line to repair the underlying problems. In this particular example, you can employ tools like bootrec or diskpart to solve various issues, such as rebuilding the boot configuration data, writing a new boot sector or repairing the system partitions.
Regardless of the reasons why you may want to run Command Line at startup, CmdStartup is a lightweight script that simply enables the autorun.
