Programmers need to protect their work just like an artist does. That is why Mulder’s CodeSign application was created. Relying on cryptographic algorithms, this lightweight application can help you generate a key, sign a file and then verify the authenticity of a signature, if necessary.

There is no standard interface to CodeSign. Instead, you get a lightweight package that contains all the three tools, namely the Key Generator, the File Signer and the File Verifier, each with its own function. Using CodeSign Is highly intuitive, as the application reveals the correct syntax within the console window.

The Key Generator makes use of the OpenSSL library and uses secure cryptographic routines to create a key, which can then be used for signing a file. You simply must provide a password and let CodeSign do its job.

The next tool is the File Signer, which can actually sign a file using the signature created by the Key Generator. You only need to provide the correct password and the security key to be able to use the generator.

Validating a file’s signature requires you to run the dedicated File Verifier and use it to check the authenticity of a signature.

CodeSign makes use of the power of the OpenSSL library to generate a security key. Using this key, one can sign any file to make sure it cannot be copied or edited.
