Managing large networks requires not only experience but also the proper software tools to carry out routine tasks and promptly respond to incidents. It is highly important for the network administrator to be able to handle bottlenecks and connectivity issues quickly, in order to reduce downtime.

ConfigEx is a network management tool designed for large networks, allowing the efficient monitoring of hundreds of devices of all kinds: workstations, routers, switches and so on. It can keep an eye on the connection status of all network servers and comes with network discovery, visualization and monitoring capabilities.

There is a sample configuration to help users understand how everything works with ConfigEx. They can, however, run network discovery to detect all the devices in the network and build the network map via Telnet, SSH and SNMP.

The application displays them all in the dedicated explorer panel, together with their IP address and the device type. Moreover, a diagram of the network topology is generated, allowing users to get an overview of the interconnections between devices, which is also helpful in troubleshooting. Thanks to the integrated inventory manager, it is possible to export the list of devices in the network to a tab-delimited file.

Poor configuration is one of the main reasons of network device failures. Having that in mind, ConfigEx comes with a built-in configuration editor and manager that enables administrators to write the code from scratch. It can also perform configuration comparisons, which helps users be aware of any changes that occur.

ConfigEx comes with a set of network management tools that every administrator needs to have in his or her toolbox. It features ping and SNMP tools, tracerouting and TFTP server management. It delivers a built-in Cisco password decryptor for Type-7 passwords and provides one-click access to the command prompt, PuTTY and the Remote Desktop Connection app in Windows.

Thanks to the rich set of tools it provides, ConfigEx allows the efficient administration of networks of any size. It focuses on configuration management for every device and it brings to the table a collection of additional tools that help network managers in their day-to-day tasks and operations.
