Eye care is obviously important, but it’s easy to chalk your vision becoming less sharp to tiredness or other similar factors. While I’m not qualified to speak on the impact of displays on our eyesight, sometimes it’s more about making your display more comfortable for your eyes than anything else.

CuEyes is a simple tool that features various filters that can be used for eye care purposes. The app is very simple to use and get started with, so anyone interested in such a solution might like what they see here.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the program lies in its color filter options. Windows does include an eye care feature by default called Night light, which works well enough for most uses.

This program here addresses the want for more. Specifically, these color filters are what sets it apart from the built-in solution: Yellow, Green, Red, and Black. If you’re confused in choosing the right one for you, the app provides some details about them all, listing the main benefits of each filter.

You can also opt for a stronger or weaker filter. While ideally, a stronger filter equals superior eye care, at least in theory, losing too much color fidelity and contrast isn’t an easy trade-off.

As the interface makes it clear from the outset, the program lets users customize their day and night eye care settings individually.  As such, you can opt for a weaker filter during the day, then use a stronger one for later. To each their own, ultimately.

Note that you can also customize your eye care schedules from the same interface. It’s essentially as easy as choosing a time interval that works for you, which will then be used by the software to automatically apply your settings within that time frame.

CuEyes is an interesting piece of software. Again, I cannot speak as to the efficacy of blue light filtering software solutions, so I’m unsure about the viability of such apps to begin with. Still, the built-in Night light that comes with Windows is good enough for most users, so it all comes down to whether you’re interested in the additional color filters you get here.
