The application comes with several advantages, and one of them is portability, making it possible for you to carry it around on a USB flash drive to extend the desktop of other computers as well. The only thing you need to make sure is whether .NET Framework is a part of the target PC, because it’s one of the main requirements.

You might not notice anything when launching the application, and you can spend a good amount of time scratching your head before you find the small icon which is used to change desktops. It usually goes behind the taskbar, but you can move it anywhere on the desktop, and set size in case you consider the default is difficult to spot and use.

The application also comes with a set of configurations that you might not want to miss out on. First of all, it gives you the possibility to enable up to eight different desktops to use. What’s more, you can set switching to be done through hotkeys, in case the navigation menu is giving you a hard time.

A custom background can be configured for each desktop, but you have to be in that particular space to change it. There are various animations you can use for switching to a new desktop, or configure one of the edges of the screen to act as a trigger. Sadly, active windows can’t be moved through desktops.

All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Desk Space manages to live up to expectations, coming as a lightweight, portable utility you can use to extend the desktop of any computer. It might not do so well on managing active windows, but the variety of customization options is sure to make it worth your while.
