There are various modes Windows offers for viewing icons on the desktop. You can configure the system to display small, medium, or large icons, align them to an imaginary grid, and automatically arrange them. However, there is no option to have them displayed in list mode, just like files and folders in Windows Explorer. That is where Desktop Listview comes in.
Packed inside a lightweight archive, Desktop Listview allows your icons to be displayed as a list on your desktop, in a similar way that directories and individual files are shown in Windows Explorer when the "list" view mode is selected.
By default, Desktop Listview is configured to run at Windows startup and reside in the system tray. Once launched, you will notice that the desktop icons are automatically arranged and displayed in a list, rather than in the standard mode.
To disable the list view for the desktop icons, you just have to double click on the system tray icon of Desktop Listview. To enable it again, you have to do the same: double click on the tray icon.
Desktop Listview comes with no additional options for you to deal with but, considering its purpose, further settings might not even be needed.
While on some machines the application worked perfectly during our tests, on others it caused the icons of the desktop shortcuts to dissapear when in list view mode. However, this issue might be isolated.
