Dictionary

A dictionary is always useful, regardless where you’ve found the unfamiliar word. Dictionary is a small gadget that requires Yahoo! Widget Engine to work.

The program integrates in the widget dock and can be launched with just a simple click. The app has a clean interface with a small field where you can write down the word you want to find the definition for.

After typing in the word, all you need to do is press the “Enter” button. The interface expands to accommodate the full definition of the word. Also, a scroll bar is included, if the definition list is too long.

On top of the extensive explanation, both synonyms and antonyms are displayed under each meaning. All the words are active links, which enable you to simply click them to be redirected to another definition.

The Dictionary’s settings enable you to change the background color and fiddle with the frame’s opacity. The app’s window can always be displayed on top of other software.

The tool can also ignore all mouse events and become rooted to the spot, thus preventing the accidental dragging of the program frame across the screen.

Dictionary is a nice app that can often be extremely useful. Inexperienced users should find the program easy to work with, thanks to its overall simplicity.
