A computer can enhance any domain of activity nowadays, be it work, or leisure time. Parties make no exception here, and there are already an abundance of multimedia players with all kinds of cool visual effects. In this regard, Discotheek come with the means of turning your monitor into a disco projector which emits cool light effects.

It takes little time and effort to get the application running on your computer. However, functionality is only ensured if Java Runtime Environment is found on the target PC. Luckily, it’s bundled inside the app’s installation package, and you can opt to deploy it as well for even less things to worry about.

Configurations are pretty intuitive, and within the first few seconds of a run you get acquainted with all it has to offer. A large space is used to store all colors which are to appear on screen, while additional controls are used to specify interval between flashes, output monitor, and whether or not to fade colors.

There are several presets to choose from to get a better idea of what is about to happen, with a few examples like rainbow, stroboscope, or lava lamp. You’re free to add multiple color layers, and doing this only requires you to pick a tone from a rich palette. Every selection appears on the list, and you can edit, or remove existing ones.

Hitting the “start” button initiates the show, but it does so in full screen. Sadly, there’s no option to include background audio, but this only comes as a show enhancer considering you already stream some cool tunes. What’s more, configurations can be saved to file to carry and use them in other parties.

All things considered, we can safely state that Discotheek is a cool party enhancer which can turn a dark room into a show room. The lightshow is easy to configure, with options to create, and save multiple presets. Although there aren’t many effects, interval customization, and fading colors provide a decent amount of flexibility.
