A computer plays an important role in a large variety of fields of activity, with office environments not making an exception. Documents don't take up much disk space, but are found as individual files and it can be rather difficult to find just the right one in the nick of time. However, with applications like Doxplore Classic – DMS you can organize them for easy identification and fast processing.

In terms of visuals, the application is pretty polished, with panels you can adjust in size to make it suit your style. The upper toolbar is full of intuitive icons that represent most import functions and management options. Most of your space is a table containing your selections, with corresponding info displayed.

At a first run, you must provide a username and password, which comes in handy if more individuals use the same computer because it helps keep your files safe. Sadly, you can only create one account and is the only way you can access the application, so it's recommended you remember your credentials.

Still related to security, once you make your selection of files to import, the application asks whether or not the original files to be removed from their location. This helps you both better organize them and keep them away from prying eyes and organize documents in a clean manner.

One of the application's strong points is the integrated search engine. Coming with a simple and advanced component, it gives you the possibility to issue various search tasks according but not limited to file types, content or name, as well as cause in case you don't exactly know what you're looking for. Moreover, criteria can be saved and indexed to trigger it easier later on.

The file management counterpart isn't too complex, but neither too shallow to be overlooked. The documents panel lets you create multiple folders for a basic layout of your files and physical storage. Importing is easily done either through drag and drop or through the dedicated file menu, with options for bulk importing.

For more flexibility, you need to set up a properties database which to fill in with your files. However, these have no other attributes other than making search easier. In other words, the dedicated panel displays a tree view of all of them and contain only files attributed to the specific property value, which is merely a different approach to folder management.

What's more, you need to make sure files you work with are found under the supported formats, otherwise they are not identified or loaded. Luckily, file support is decent, with types ranging from basic TXT and DOC, to PDF, HTML and even various image files.

On an ending note, Doxplore Classic – DMS is not really what you'd expect from a file management application, although it is dedicated to handling documents. A great deal of flexibility is at your disposal thanks to folder structure and additional properties with custom values, and you expect more to be accomplished rather than searching with a powerful engine through your collection alone, with disappointment kicking in when you realize there isn't anything more to it.

On the other hand, Doxplore Classic – DMS is the basic version, stripped of various functions which are included in more advanced editions like Classic or Professional.
