If you are using a multiple monitor setup, then sometimes you may need to position the second or extra monitors accurately relative to the first. Generally speaking, while Windows is capable of arranging the said configuration graphically, it usually does a poor job at accurate aligning.
DPEdit is a lightweight command-line tool that can fix this issue for you. More precisely, the utility allows you to ensure an accurate alignment of the monitors relative to each other using numeric values. Before you use the application, you should know that it changes the registry keys, so there is a possibility of file damage or corruption. Create a backup of the registry before making any modifications.
As you would expect, the primary monitor remains at position 0 at all times and, according to the developer, you don’t really need to specify its location. If you were to work on a dual monitor setup, then the command will look something like dpedit.exe 1 0 0 2 -1920 21, where the 2 -1920 21 would be the location of the second monitor. Since the position of the main monitor is optional, you can skip it altogether and simply go with ./dpedit.exe 2 0 1920 21.
