DSPFIL is a cool, free tool that lets you create LOW, HIGH, or BANDPASS FIR filters for audio. It works in real-time and covers the audio range of 0-4kHz. With a sampling rate of 8000 samples per second, it’s pretty handy!
You can easily change the lower or upper edge, as well as the width and center of your filter using track bars. It's super simple! The graphic window shows you how your filter looks in the frequency domain, which makes it easy to visualize what’s happening.
The best part? Whenever you adjust the filter by moving those track bars, it updates right away! If you activate the track bar, you can even use the arrow keys for fine-tuning. Each press adjusts it by just one Hz. How cool is that?
Diving into how DSPFIL works: The filter coefficients are calculated using a hanging windowed impulse response from a prototype Low Pass filter (you know, sin(x)/x). If needed, there’s also a frequency shift involved to make everything fit just right.
