What is EBTCalc?

EBTCalc

EBTCalc is a cool tool that uses Reverse Polish Notation, or RPN for short. Now, RPN is a way to write math where the operators come after the numbers. Sounds tricky, right? It actually took some time for this idea to catch on, especially in calculators back in the 1950s when computer scientist Charles L. Hamblin came up with it.

What Is EBTCalc?

This app is a simple and super handy calculator designed for RPN operations. You can do calculations without any parentheses getting in the way! For example, if you want to calculate 17 * (3 + 4), you just type in 17, hit Enter, then put in 3, hit Enter again, add 4, and finally enter the symbols for + and *. It might seem a bit weird at first, but trust me—it’s not as hard as it sounds!

User-Friendly Design

The main window of EBTCalc has everything laid out nicely. You’ve got the value entry area on the top left, then there are stacks indicators and built-in buttons below that. In the middle upper part of your screen is a category selector followed by some custom buttons.

Add Your Own Custom Buttons

This app comes with all the usual buttons you'd expect on a calculator plus some pre-set options. But here’s where it gets really cool—you can add your own custom buttons! Just keep in mind that you’ll need some basic JavaScript skills to make that happen. Plus, there’s a Settings section where you can customize things like binding symbols to decimals or thousands separators.

A Practical Tool for Everyone

In short, EBTCalc is an awesome Electron-based application perfect for Windows 10, macOS, or Linux users who want to tackle complex calculations using RPN. If you're interested in trying it out, check out this link: Download EBTCalc!
