Your computer can be tweaked to your advantage in different modes, be it for power saving, or to look cool while you’re in front of the computer or away. You can choose to rely on third-party alternatives to Windows features, and EnergySaver wants to help you launch folders of interest, and start the screensaver with little effort.

The application gets deployed on your computer before you realize, and it even launches automatically when done so you can take it for a spin. Note that it minimizes to the tray area, so don’t be scared if nothing shows up on the desktop. In fact, there isn’t even a window to work with, except for the configuration panel.

On the bright side of things, there are various preconfigured locations and functions to quickly get you up and running. This includes several locations to fixed drives, as well as functions to eject and retract the CD/DVD tray. Additional options make it easy to turn off your monitor to save some energy, or launch the default screensaver.

By default, the application is set to run with Windows, so that all of its functions become available as soon as you reach the desktop. In case you don’t want to leave this enabled, you can switch the function off from the corresponding tray menu.

There’s also some degree of customization to benefit from. Don’t expect too much liberty, but it does come in handy to configure multiple computer locations. Unfortunately, you can’t set up links to programs or regular files, not even website links to open them in your default browser.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that EnergySaver wants to ease your work when it comes to jumping to particular folders of interest, or simply to run the screensaver. It could have used at least support for other programs to serve as a launcher, but it does get the job done good overall.
