Windows constantly added new features with each iteration to make computer use more comfortable. Among others, there’s the possibility to place sticky notes on your desktop so you don’t miss appointments, or quickly write down bits of important info. There are also various alternatives like eNotes with a bit more customization options.

One of the main advantages is that the application skips you the whole effort of going through a setup process, allowing you to store, and use it directly from a thumb drive. This also enables you to carry important notes with you, without having to worry that the target PC’s health status gets affected, because registries are not modified to ensure functionality.

The main window is incredibly compact, but somehow manages to hold all the functions you need to start. It’s the place where you can access the configuration panel, and create more notes. When not used, it can be minimized to the taskbar, but it also takes all notes with it. Sadly, you can either keep everything, or nothing on the desktop.

The application gives you the possibility to add multiple notes, and shows the total number so you don’t lose track of them, but with no option to jump to a specific one directly, mostly because notes can’t be fitted with a title.

Customization options aren’t abundant, but allow for a decent amount of variety. For instance, you can use a specific background color for all notes, or randomize with each new note you create. The text is the same for all notes, and can be configured with all regular style, size, and color font options.

Note that the application discards everything on exit. Luckily, there’s the possibility to have notes exported as TXT, or RTF by manually changing the extension, and you also need to modify the path, or name for each note, otherwise the last saved item is automatically replaced.

All things considered, we can safely state that eNotes is a lightweight, practical alternatives to the default Windows corresponding feature, even though it feels a little rough around the edges. It would have been useful to be able to edit a note’s title for easier identification, or have customization options dedicated to each item, but overall deserves some of your attention.
