Handling multiple files that are spread over a complex folder structure can be tricky and users might require an efficient way of performing certain file operations. Extension Copy is a compact and lightweight application that will help users manage multiple files through batch cut, copy, delete and permanent delete operations.
Right after the installation, the application’s most prominent aspect becomes apparent rather quickly: its tools are offered into several sections that feature alternating, vivid colors. This could be one potential issue, since passing from one section to another isn’t very clear and it might be irritating to one’s eyes.
The application’s sections offer users a step-by-step configuration process, which first will allow users to select the preferred operation (copy, cut, delete, permanent delete and “crush”). The following sections house the input and output file locations, customizable filtering, a progress log and the application’s settings.
One will be able to easily input the preferred files by navigating through the folder tree and the application will even provide the Windows contextual menu inside its interface. The choice of adding file filters in the form of name and extension masks comes in quite handy and users will be able to also select a specific date / size for selecting files.
Once the file processing is complete, the application will provide users with a detailed log that contains all the steps undertaken. However, during the actual process of copying or deleting files, the application will instantly disappear in the tray area and furthermore, on our tests it has exhibited several random crashes.
This application might appeal to users who require an easy way of selecting the required files from their drives and move, copy or delete them in large numbers. It will allow them to select input and output locations or add custom filters through text strings or extensions. However, its interface might have incorporated a better design in terms of colors and its strange behavior coupled with occasional crashes do not recommend it as a reliable solution.
