EZNEC is super cool software that features a neat 3D pattern display. This lets you highlight any azimuth or elevation "slice" and read the gain at any angle using a fully positionable cursor. You can also flip to a 2D display for more detail whenever you want. The best part? It’s designed to be friendly and easy to use while taking full advantage of the powerful NEC-2 calculating engine.
The program is menu-driven, making it simple to find what you need. You can make entries and changes just by clicking on the desired parameter, so everything feels very interactive.
Besides plotting azimuth and elevation patterns, EZNEC helps you learn about gain, feedpoint impedance, takeoff angles, sidelobe characteristics, f/b ratio, 3-dB pattern points, SWR, and current distributions—just to name a few! All this info can be displayed and printed out so that you have it handy whenever necessary.
The developer has made it easy for you to describe your antenna and nearby structures as a group of straight conductors. You can specify diameter, length, and orientation without breaking a sweat! Plus, the app allows you to add sources at feedpoints while enjoying realistic ground settings, transmission lines, loading coils, traps, and other similar components.
This description method helps you quickly analyze Yagis, quads, phased arrays, towers—pretty much any type of antenna or parasitic structure you can think of! So if you're looking for an efficient way to get into antenna modeling or analysis check it out here!
