Farm Yard Screensaver

Sometimes, leaving your PC display monitor turned on for prolonged times can cause stuck or dead pixels. In order to avoid that, you can resort to using a screensaver while you are away from the computer. Farm Yard Screensaver is colorful and it features multiple scenes, nature sounds and animations.

This screensaver can decorate your screen with multiple vividly colored animations of a farm and its inhabitants, as well as delight you with nature sound effects.

Farm Yard Screensaver features a configuration window you can access by right-clicking its desktop icon and selecting Configure. Alternatively, you can access it from the native Screensaver Settings window.

The settings can be easily customized, as they are pretty self-explanatory. For instance, you can modify the animation playback sequence by choosing between In Order, Shuffle and Intelligent Random (that is just plain random mode, according to the tool-tip).

It is possible to choose between different sizes, including Exact Fit, Fullscreen and Original. You can change the animation quality by choosing between High, Medium and Low. However, since this screensaver was built in Flash, you might encounter low FPS if you select a high quality playback.

The configuration window also allows you to mute sounds while displaying the screensaver and toggling this option apparently boosts the FPS rate.

You can select this application's exit behavior by toggling between a series of options. Farm Yard Screensaver can be set to ignore mouse movement, mouse clicks or keyboard key pressing and only respond to the Esc key.

To sum it up, Farm Yard does what a screensaver is supposed to do and plays on your monitor, after your PC has been idle for a certain time. While you might enjoy the brightness and high-contrast color schemes it uses, you should be aware that setting it to a high quality and toggling sound effects might cause low FPS rates and high resource consumption.
