It doesn't matter if you're watching commentaries, news reports, funny videos, videogame walkthroughs, or listening to music; everyone is on YouTube at some point or another. Unfortunately, it becomes unavailable once your Internet connection is down, so an audio and video downloader can come in handy, such as Files for YouTube.

This tool doesn't boast the most impressive or well-organized UI around, as everything is arranged in a way that makes you think that the developer tried to stuff as much content into one window as possible. For example, the search page could have used smaller image thumbnails, and the text color and size make it hard see. More so, the unused white area to the right makes the window look like a website after you've blocked off all the ads. The same thing goes for when you start watching a particular video, as there is too much unused space lying around, which makes browsing the actual YoTube website far more enjoyable.

All you have to do to get started with downloading your favorite videos is start viewing one, and then select the "Save Video" button. There you can select from some video quality formats which also let you know how much disk space each occupies. The same principle goes for downloading the audio since all you have to do is press the "Share Audio" button. Currently, you can save a video's soundtrack in either MP3 or M4A formats.

Files for YouTube is an app that still needs some tweaking to be done, especially from a UI point of view. Fortunately, the downloader worked fine during testing, and that is pretty much all that matters. It could make a good addition to anyone's digital library.
