The Internet is home to nearly all available media files. When assembling clips it becomes crucial to be able to quickly get ahold of desired items, even though most websites don't feature a download option. Luckily, specialized applications like Flash Video Capture give you the possibility to bypass this flaw and save nearly any video on your hard disk drive.

The application is split into three section you can put to good use. One of them is a fully functional web browser, with several features included to make downloading possible. Don't expect to make it your default method of going online, because it's not the main purpose.

Accessing a media website automatically triggers a scan process, bringing up a list with available videos that can be downloaded. The full name of the video is displayed, as well as file format, size and URL to let you know if it's what you are looking for.

Another feature of the application requires you to paste the website address to have the file downloaded. This new window comes equipped with a drag zone which always stays on top of any other active window.

This comes in handy, because it does not take much space on your desktop and stumbling upon a video of interest while using your default web browser lets you simply get ahold of the media file by dragging the URL in the dedicated zone.

Unfortunately, you must specify the destination folder each time you want to download a file, with no possibility to set a default one.

The third feature is an integrated player, capable of playing only a few formats. When a download is complete, you can choose to have it previewed using the application's player.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Flash Video Capture is a handy application to get ahold of nearly any video on the Internet. Overall it's easy to use, but it's missing several advanced features and supported formats, which keep it a little far from being a pro. However, it gets the job properly done and it is definitely worth a try.
