There’s a pretty high chance you get bored of the same wallpaper over and over again. There is, however, a default Windows function which enables the automatic transition of pictures on your screen, but you might want to know there are also alternatives in case you find the Windows feature too difficult to work with, and Fondo is a suitable example here.

On the bright side of things, you can go ahead and check out what the application can do for you from the moment download is done, because you don’t have to go through a setup process to make it work. As such, it’s also possible to carry it around on a USB flash drive in case you want to use it on both your work and home computers.

It minimizes to the tray area on launch, and you only need to interact with it to handle settings. These aren’t really abundant, and only consist of options to choose the picture source folder, as well as the transition time. Note, however, that it doesn’t start with Windows, and this needs to be manually done by placing a shortcut in the system Startup folder.

The application supports a decent variety of picture formats, and all subfolders of the target directory get included in the process, so you need to choose wisely. Apart from the location, you might also want to adjust the transition time, which is specified in minutes.

Sadly, there aren’t really any advanced options to help you handle pictures of different aspect ratio settings. As such, you can’t set the alignment of the wallpaper, and there’s no possibility to change the current picture at the press of a button.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Fondo is a pretty straightforward application with which to have wallpapers rotated at regular intervals. Sadly, it’s fitted with a rather poor set of features, even though it gets the job done with what it’s already equipped.
