Free MDI Converter is a lightweight and very simple to understand piece of software meant to offer you the means of accessing Microsoft Document Imaging files, letting you view and turn them to other formats in just a few swift mouse clicks.

The application’s interface is organized into two main tabs, ‘Convert Single File’ and ‘Batch Convert’, their functionality being sufficiently self-explanatory.

In the first tab, Free MDI Converter features a ribbon that allows you to manipulate the source file prior to processing, enabling you to rotate it, for instance.

When working with individual MDI files, the program offers considerably more features, including the ability to preview the document and its pages, in a side panel. Similarly, you can ‘Search’ for a specific term within the file, or print it.

The rotation possibilities of Free MDI Converter include left, right and 180 degrees turns. Moreover, the tool lets you choose the pages that you wish to target, be it the current one, all of them or only the those you manually select. As for the output options, you can export your MDI files to JPG, BMP, PNG, TIF, PDF or TXT.

The ‘Batch Convert’ component lets you add multiple MDIs or a whole folder in one go, being able to define the destination folder along with the output format. However, in this case, you can only save files to PDF or TIFF (multipage documents).
