With the help of FreeCap you can reroute connections from programs through the SOCKS server. It comes in handy for applications that don't have support for later SOCKS versions, such as Internet Explorer.
The interface is made from a regular window with a plain and simple layout, where you can add a new application to the list by specifying its path, working directory, program parameters, and profile name.
It is possible to edit a program's properties and to export the configuration for further projects. As far as settings are concerned, you can select the protocol between SOCKS v4, SOCKS v5 and HTTP proxy, point out a default proxy, create a proxy chain, as well as enable SocksShare to share proxies (only anonymous, or all).
You may create a list of programs for making direct connections, and specify one IP or an IP with netmask. Log details can be recorded to file for further scrutiny, while FreeCap can be set to autorun at startup and minimized to the system tray area, among other options.
The application leaves a small footprint in the system resources usage area. It has a good reaction speed and doesn't interrupt normal activity. We have not come across any issues in our tests, and FreeCap did not hang or crash.
