Frog

The desktop space is the place to start any computer activity. This, however, doesn't necessarily have to involve work alone, and also serves as a place of entertainment. To give you an example, Frog is a fun little application you can use to populate the desktop with frogs which jomp, move, croak, and keep you entertained.

Considering it manages to put a smile on your face, Frog is an application which can become a virtual pet. You can carry it with you on a thumb drive to always have one or more frogs on the desktop, regardless of the computer you're using. It puts little strain on the target PC, and doesn't leave any traces inside system registry entries.

Running the application immediately makes a frog appear on the desktop. Its behavior is random, with a set of interaction options which make it move, croak, turn, and jump. Neat programming allows it to use window elements like buttons and text strings as platforms, thus allowing you to create quite the playground.

Multiple instances can be launched, but frogs then need to be individually captured to bring up the corresponding options panel to close them. There's no faster way of closing an application instance, especially since multiple processes are created when more instances are active.

Inside the options menu you find general program behavior settings, as well as a set of controls for the selected frog to manually force it to perform specific activities. Among others, you can enable collision, topmost window layer priority, sound, and whether or not to interact with other frogs or windows.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Frog is a cool little companion you can leave running on your desktop for pure entertainment, and even bring a few of its friends along for the fun. It uses little system resources, and can even be carried around on a thumb drive as a virtual pet.
