Searching for a particular plain-text data set can get quite tiring at some point, especially if you have plenty of files to search for. With the help of fs, this can be done much easier. The program allows you to search for a string within all your files.
The application runs using Command Line parameters and it allows you to search for the occurrence of certain text strings within your files. This way, you can scan all your files without having to open them. Whenever the required string is found, you are displayed with its row position and file path, so that you can easily locate it.
fs works in a similar way with the ‘grep’ function, only that it can be easily used by anyone, even if they do not have any experience with UNIX or CLI commands.
With the help of fs, you can determine which of your files contain a target text string. By searching for the occurrence of certain words, the application can recursively find the line positions of certain strings within the files of your choice. You can choose the documents or files that you scan by simply entering their format.
Aside from this, the program is pretty straightforward, having only one Command Prompt argument and several parameters. This does not put a strain on your computer’s resources, as it can run on virtually any computer.
To sum it all up, fs provides you with a quick and facile ‘grep’ replacement that can be ran from Command Line Interface (CLI). The program offers you a simple way of scanning files and finding certain text strings, then pointing out their file location.
