FusionInventory Agent

FusionInventory Agent is an application designed to help you carry out multiple tasks, such as local inventory, network discovery or software deployment. The agent can be used either standalone or with a compatible server (OCS, GLPI, OTRS) working as a centralized control point.

You may opt for a full installation mode, which includes all the features, custom one (you are allowed to choose the desired components), or minimal (it packs only the essential options).

If you don’t know which mode is the best for you, you can install the default one. Plus, you can view short descriptions for each component included in the installation package.

You can execute FusionInventory Agent as a Windows service, Windows task or manually, launch an inventory immediately after the installation, save inventory to HTML file format, and scan home directory for virtual machines.

There’s also support for advanced features that help you alter the connection timeout, delay before the first target, and task execution timeout. You can pick the debugging level, specify the saving directory for the log and limit the log size to a custom value.

The execution target can be either a server (URL) or local directory, and you may also make use of command-line parameters for overriding the configuration options.

The program lets you set an initial delay before the first target or do not contact the target before next scheduled time, list available tasks and exit, list only the desired category items in inventory (printer, software, environment, process, user), scan home directories for virtual machines and user profiles, and disable P2P options for downloading files.

When it comes to server settings, you may alter proxy parameters, set up authentication options, and specify the timeout for server connections, while features related to the web interface enable you to disable the embedded web server, and enter the network interface and port details.
