What is Galton Board Model?

Galton Board Model

The Galton Board Model is a fun way to explore probability and randomness! Imagine a vertical board filled with rows of pegs. You drop a ball from the top, and as it falls, it hits these pegs along the way. Each time the ball hits a peg, it has a certain chance of bouncing left or right. Specifically, it has a probability of p to bounce left and a probability of 1-p to bounce right.

How Does It Work?

This setup creates an exciting simulation! As you keep dropping balls, each one takes its own path based on those probabilities. When all the balls finish their journey down the board, they land in different spots at the bottom. These final positions are collected into bins that form a histogram.

The Magic of Probability

This histogram shows how likely each final position is. The more you drop balls, the clearer the pattern becomes! You’ll notice that most balls land around the middle while fewer end up at the extremes—this reflects how probabilities work in real life.

Why Use Galton Board Model?

The Galton Board Model isn't just cool to watch; it's also super useful for teaching concepts about statistics and probability in an easy-to-understand way. By visualizing how randomness can lead to patterns, students can grasp these ideas much better!
