Garmin nRoute is an older program that was made to help you enjoy auto-routing on your laptop, but only if you have a compatible Garmin GPS device linked up. So, if you love mapping out your trips and want some cool features, this might be something you'd want to know about!
Just like MapSource, nRoute supports all sorts of features like tracks, waypoints, addresses, points of interest, and routes. But the main thing it’s good for is real-time navigation and tracking while you're on the go.
This application works with different Garmin GPS devices. However, to get automatic routing with voice guidance going, you'll need a City Select product that’s been unlocked for a specific Garmin GPS. It’s kind of like having the right key for your car—it just won’t start without it!
If you've got MapSource already installed on your computer, using Garmin nRoute will be pretty easy. Most users who have some experience with MapSource won’t have much trouble figuring things out.
One important thing to remember is that you can’t enable auto-routing unless you have City Select or City Navigator products that are already unlocked and paired with a compatible GPS unit. So before you start driving off into the sunset, make sure you've set up Garmin nRoute first! The controls can be tricky when you're actually behind the wheel.
