GDS Utilities

GFS (Graphic Data System) files can contain a large amount of information, regarding the characteristics of the layers, geometric shapes or text labels. Such files are being often used in CAD working environments, and serve as the de facto industry standard in terms of data exchange for integrated circuit layouts.

GDS Utilities is bundle of three tools for performing various operations with GDS, GDS2 and ASCII files: retrieve information regarding content and its characteristics, conversions to and from GDS or ASCII, as well as batch conversions.

The info tool will allow one to obtain information about the cells, polygons, hierarchy or layers contained in the GDS or GDS2 files. The conversion tools, offer support for both GDS and GDS2 files, as well as ASCII.

Both of the info and conversion tools can be run using the command line interface. For the batch processing, users can select the GUI version – the actual GDS Utilities, which will allow them to select entire directories or individual files and the output format.

Determining the output format is done by manually inputting it in the provided fields and drag-and-drop operations are not supported, users having to add the directories or files manually, using the navigation features.
