GearCalc is a handy program that helps you figure out the maximum speeds for each gear in your vehicle. It does this by using the maximum RPM of your engine (also known as redline), gear ratios, tire size, and differential ratio. Pretty cool, right?
This software goes beyond just numbers. It creates a chart showing RPM values for every 10 Km/h increment when you're using metric mode or every 5 MPH increment until you hit the redline. Plus, it also calculates how much the RPM drops with each gear change.
You can enter your tire size in a format like 185/70x14, and GearCalc will automatically figure out the diameter and circumference for you. If you have tires that don’t follow that style, no worries! You can just measure the diameter or circumference directly for accurate results.
It’s important to remember that the maximum speeds calculated don’t consider wind resistance. This means that sometimes your vehicle might not reach those top speeds in high gear because it doesn’t have enough power to push through the wind.
If you're looking to boost your car's performance, GearCalc can help! It has tons of gear ratio presets for popular cars like Honda Civic and Mazda Miata. So whether you're tuning up your ride or just curious about its capabilities, this tool has got you covered!
