If you ever wanted to backup your GitHub repositories to a local storage, then you surely know that finding an appropriate software for this particular type of job is not the easiest of tasks.
Fortunately, you can turn to Gibu, a very practical, little application that’s designed to provide you with one of the easiest (if not the easiest) way of backing up all your GitHub repositories.
To get started with Gibu, you first need to install it on your computer, a fairly straightforward, very similar to that of most other modern apps. Once launched, you are greeted by a very intuitive 4-step wizard that guides you through the configuration process.
For starters, you need to generated a GitHub Token from your GitHub account. This can be done by accessing the Personal access tokens page. The second step involves entering the token into the app. Next, simply select the backup directory (either a local drive, or an external one), and finish the configuration.
Subsequent to the configuration process, you can now access the app’s main GUI, the place where you can select the repositories you want to backup from a dropdown list. You can hand-pick them or backup all the repositories together. The app also boasts a very simplistic menu (located in the upper left side of the main window). From the menu, you can change the token, as well as the destination for your GitHub repos.
To conclude, Gibu is a minimalist, yet extremely efficient app that allows just about anyone (regardless of the computer knowledge) to quickly backup GitHub repositories.
