The abundance of activities you need to perform on a daily basis need to be organized in order to efficiently manage time, and complete most tasks for the current day. Computer applications like Goal Explorer help a lot in this regard, letting you organize thoughts and ideas in a well-established environment to easily track progress.

First of all, you can launch the application right after download, because no installation is required to make it work. However, this only works out fine if your computer is equipped with .NET Framework, since it’s a required component for functionality. It can easily be used on other PC’s so you have your notes wherever you go, without affecting the target system registry entries.

The visual design is pretty clean, and simple, with the main window split into two sections to make goal selection easy. With an item selected, all related plans are shown in a separate section, so you can view each plan with its own progress, and completion status.

Creating goals requires little effort, with only a few fields which need to be filled in, such as caption, reason, progress, resources, and people. The progress field can be filled with both numerical, and alphabetical characters, allowing more flexibility. Moreover, every goal needs to be fitted with one, or more plans, these only requiring name, progress, and completion.

Unfortunately, every change in status needs to be manually edited in the same creation window. Progress can’t be adjusted with a slider, or drop-down menu, not to mention the lack of a timer for better task tracking. Reports can’t be built, and there’s no possibility to at least export a list of all goals, or plans.

An efficient management of time boosts personal goals, and increases business efficiency in any domain. However, Goal Explorer comes a little underprepared for what it wants to accomplish, with a simple, but rather ambiguous management system. There are no export options, and all details are in raw format.
