Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) can be best described as an advanced method of examining and managing Internet traffic. It is one of the variables used by ISPs to block access to certain content and websites.

GoodbyeDPI is a tiny, console utility that allows you to bypass the blocks implemented by ISP by handling the DPI via port mirroring or optical splitter. Simply put, the program can help circumvent DPI data classification and allow access to content that is otherwise blocked.

The application does not require installation or configuration, so simply decompress the archive and run the tool. In general, there should not be any further setting up to do and if you simply run it without any options and it works that’s all.

However, there may be cases in which things do not run smoothly and you may need to check the options and make further adjustments. For example, if you notice that the ISP intercepts the DNS requests, then the developer recommends using the - dns - addr command. In this case, the option allows you to access a public DNS resolver running on a non-standard port. Another example is to run the - blacklist command and remove the websites that are currently blocked.

According to the developer, the tool works on both passive and active DPI. For the passive one, the role of the app is to block any packets that redirect you to censored content. Although active DPI is harder to bypass, the software includes 7 methods that may work in your particular case.

In the eventuality that you are living in a geographical region where online content is restricted due to political, religious or other reasons, then perhaps you can consider giving GoodbyeDPI a try.
