To this day, blogging remains one of the best ways to get your writing noticed in your country or across the world. But even if you have enough talent and imagination to make it profitable, it takes more than just writing skills to become a good blogger.
Blogs needs images too, as well as categories, tags, and other elements that make them accessible. In order to properly manage such a website directly from your computer, you should use a blogging client. Naturally, there are many programs of this kind out there, so today we’re going to take a look at Gridea.
If you’re new to blogging and are still figuring out how to get the site running, then this isn’t necessarily the program you should start with. Putting aside the fact the app isn’t yet translated from Chinese to English in its entirety, there are still some elements which you might have a hard time getting used to.
It’s important to know that you will need to write the blog using Markdown; even if it’s a lightweight markup language, it may still take you a while to get used to it. Thankfully, the interface provides a few buttons to help you stylize your text, but chances are your blog won’t look the way you want it to from the get-go.
You can create tags for your posts, change the theme of the blog, or add buttons to your menu, with links that can be opened internally or externally. You have to set up a domain, repository and an email address (among other things).
Surely, using Gridea is certainly easier than learning to develop with WordPress. The program is free and it does offer you control over many aspects of blogging, but you should only use it if you’re familiar with Markdown.
