gvwm is an interesting tool that helps you manage multiple desktops. Even though Windows finally added this feature, gvwm has been doing it for a while now with some cool options. It’s great if you want to keep your workspace organized and tidy!
One of the best things about gvwm is that you can keep it on a thumb drive. You don’t need to install it on each computer, which means everything stays neat and tidy in the registry. Just remember, you'll need to have the .NET Framework installed on the computer where you're using it.
This app lets you manage your active windows differently than what you might be used to. You can drag and drop windows inside a grid layout, which makes it super simple! When you start, you’ll see a default 2x2 grid representing spaces where your windows can sit.
You can change how many rows and columns your grid has, up to five items! This means you can create a setup that works best for you. However, there are no hotkeys for moving things around; everything is done by dragging them with your mouse. If you're not using gvwm at the moment, just minimize it to the tray area.
If your desktop gets crowded easily, gvwm might be just what you need! It’s not like other virtual desktop tools you've seen before, but it's very handy for keeping things organized. Plus, gathering all your windows together is just a button press away!
