Gword is a super handy add-in for Microsoft Excel that helps you change numbers into text. This makes it easier to work with spreadsheets, especially when you need to fill out forms or write checks.
So, Gword comes as an XLA file, which is basically the format for Excel add-ins. To get it going, just double-click the downloaded file. Excel automatically knows what to do with XLA files!
Once you open it up, Gword loads a formula right into your Excel. You’ll see a small window pop up where you can check out all the options and get clear instructions on how to use it.
Before you dive in, just a heads-up: Gword needs macros enabled in Excel. If they aren’t turned on yet, you'll be prompted to do so when you start using the add-in.
You can call the function by typing in its syntax directly into any cell or by hitting 'CTRL-SHIFT-G' on your keyboard. This will pop the formula right into your selected cell where you can tweak its settings.
The syntax is pretty straightforward! Remember that Gword processes just one cell at a time, so you'll only put one argument inside those parentheses. But if you're feeling fancy and want to convert multiple numbers at once without typing out the formula each time, just select a range of cells and hit 'CTRL-SHIFT-W'. Easy peasy!
You can also jazz up your output! Gword lets you add custom prefixes and suffixes to your text. Want to attach a currency symbol or measurement unit? Just head over to the 'Settings' area and make those changes.
In short, Gword is an awesome tool that makes transforming numbers into their text versions super easy! It’s perfect for all kinds of tasks like filling out forms or writing checks.
