Icon Tap is a cool little program made for Windows that helps you view and extract icons from all sorts of files. You know how every program and many DLL files have those tiny pictures? Well, this app lets you grab them as icon (ICO) files or bitmap (BMP) files.
Before diving in, here’s a quick heads-up: WARNING: If you decide to use icons extracted from these files, make sure you're not breaking any copyright laws. It's totally your responsibility to check if you have the right to use those icons.
Getting started is super easy! Just run the program and use the Folder Tree Box on the left side to pick the folder that has the files you want to check out. In the Files Box, you'll see names of files that contain icons. If there’s a small version of the first icon next to a filename, it means there are icons inside. No icon? No luck!
You can also resize window panes by dragging those dividers around with your mouse—pretty handy! To see all the icons in a specific file, just click on its name, and they’ll pop up in the big Icon window.
If you find an icon you really like and want to save it, just click on it. Then hit the [Save as Icon] button if you want an ICO file or go for {Save as Bitmap] if you'd rather have a BMP file. Either way, you'll be asked what name you want for your new file.
This app is super useful for anyone who loves working with graphics or wants to customize their own stuff. So give it a try and start exploring all those hidden gems!
