JXLStoKML is a handy little app for Windows that helps you convert XLS files into KML file format. This is super useful, especially if your XLS files have addresses in them. You can easily turn those addresses into waypoints using Google Earth or any other tool that supports KML files.
The cool thing about JXLStoKML is that it's a portable program. This means it won't leave any traces on your Windows Registry. You can simply copy it onto a USB flash drive or any device and take it with you. No need to go through the hassle of installing it every time you want to use it!
This app runs on Java, so make sure you've got the Java environment installed on your computer before you try to run JXLStoKML. Otherwise, you might hit a snag!
When you're ready to convert files, JXLStoKML lets you upload them easily with a built-in browse button. However, keep in mind that there's no drag-and-drop feature available here.
To finish the conversion, just choose where you want to save the file and give it a name. The tool even keeps a log so you can see how everything went and spot any errors along the way.
On the downside, there's no option for setting a default location for saved files, nor can you process multiple XLS files at once—so it's not great for batch processing. But during our tests, we found that JXLStoKML gets the job done quickly and accurately! Just remember that like many Java tools, it might use up some system resources.
If you're looking for an easy way to convert XLS files to KML format without fuss, JXLStoKML is perfect for beginners!
