KFSensor Professional is a neat piece of software that acts like a honeypot. It tricks hackers into thinking they’ve found an easy target on your computer, making your system services look vulnerable. This tool is packed with options and settings, perfect for experienced users like network admins.
The installation process doesn’t take much time at all, but you will need to restart your system afterward. When you open KFSensor for the first time, it shows a simple wizard to help you set everything up. The layout is pretty straightforward and user-friendly.
When you start KFSensor, the wizard guides you through the setup. You can choose from different port classes between Windows workstations, servers, Internet services, and even Linux services—those aren’t usually found on Windows! You can also cover Trojans and worms.
Next, you'll pick which ports have active native services and set up other details like a domain name. If you want alerts about any activity, you can enable email notifications by entering sender and receiver addresses.
You can customize lots of settings related to denial of service attacks (which controls how many events are recorded before locking things down), port activity duration (how long to show activity after an event), proxy emulation (deciding if KFSensor can make limited external connections), and even use a network protocol analyzer. Plus, you can install KFSensor as a system service!
All events will pop up in the main window where you can check out details like start time, duration, protocol used, sensor port info, visitor names, and signature messages. If needed, additional event details are available for export too!
You can create specific visitor rules by defining IP ranges or host DNS names along with protocols. Set limits on allowed connections or actions to take when certain thresholds are met—like closing or ignoring them—and even determine severity levels.
KFSensor allows you to create multiple scenarios that you can easily switch between while editing their properties as needed. You’ll also be able to configure signatures and adjust DOS attack settings while logging activities into a file.
The good news? We didn’t encounter any stability issues during our tests—the app didn’t crash or hang at all! Plus, it uses low CPU and RAM so it won’t slow down your system. Thanks to its wide range of options dedicated to protecting against Internet-based attacks, KFSensor Professional should work great for most users looking for reliable security!
