The User Account Control or, in short, UAC is a Windows feature that was introduced with the release of Windows Vista and Server 2008 but that is present on more recent operating system iterations as well. Its purpose is to prevent applications from inheriting the elevated privileges from the currently logged in user unless approved by an administrator, for obvious security reasons.

Disabling the User Account Control results in a more vulnerable system. It is highly recommended that the features stays turned on, especially since it is much less annoying on more recent OS versions. Nevertheless, some users still prefer disabling it and, if that is the case, then they can use Kill-UAC instead of tampering with the system settings in Windows.

Kill-UAC is an older application, tested on Windows Vista only. To disable UAC users simply have to double click on the Kill-UAC.reg file and confirm the new registry settings. This operation turns off the warnings UAC displays when a new application is launched. A system restart is mandatory for the changes to take effect.

The package also includes the Restore-UAC.reg file which can restore the original configuration of the UAC. Importing these registry settings practically turn the User Account Control back on.
