Lara Croft: Tomb Raider 3D Screensaver is here to bring some excitement to your screen! Picture this: Lara Croft strolls through a maze filled with rooms, checking out cool images from the upcoming movie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life, all in stunning 3D!
You know, years ago I used to grab those computer magazines just for the demos they had on the cover disks. One day, I stumbled upon this demo called Tomb Raider. Honestly, I had no clue what it was about, but I tried it out because it was way cheaper than buying a game that might end up being a total dud. Well, let me tell you—I played that demo so many times! It was such a blast! Back then, the graphics weren’t anything like today’s games, but the gameplay? Absolutely top-notch. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked on the series.
What really gets under my skin is how Tomb Raider was one of the most original games ever and now it's been copied by so many others. But guess what? The official screensaver on their website is just another boring slideshow. YAWN.
With the new movie sequel coming out soon—Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life—I figured it was time to whip up a fun screensaver. And I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! I actually made Lara's model myself, and big shoutout to those awesome folks who shared modeling tutorials online—they were super helpful! Also have to thank Nehe (nehe.gamedev.net) for having some of the best OpenGL tutorials around; his rope physics tutorial really helped me get her ponytail moving just right.
This screensaver features Lara walking around a randomly generated maze while she checks out all sorts of movie stills on the walls. You really have to see it to get how cool it is; there’s nothing else quite like it out there! Honestly, I had tons more ideas for this project but time wasn’t on my side—I wanted to release it before the movie hit theaters. If enough people enjoy it, who knows? Maybe I'll come back and expand on this later!
