What is LED Banner?

LED Banner

LED Banner is a cool little widget made for the Yahoo! Widget Engine platform. What does it do? Well, it puts a big scrolling banner right on your desktop! At first, it might not seem like much, but trust me, it comes packed with tons of settings to satisfy even the pickiest of users.

Easy to Use and Customize

After you add it to the Yahoo! Widget Engine dock, you can drag the LED Banner onto your desktop. Make it bigger or move it anywhere you want on the screen. If you double-click on the window, you can pause or start the scrolling whenever you like!

Edit Your Banner

You can easily customize your banner from the Widget Preferences panel. Want to change how fast it reloads? No problem! You can also switch up the display mode. Whether you're using linear files or RSS feeds, it's all there. Plus, you can choose to show all text in lowercase or even select a specific text file to display.

Add RSS Feeds

If you're into RSS feeds, you'll love this! Just fill in some simple fields like primary URL and start/end strings to show them in your banner. You can open these links in your web browser too! And don’t forget about customizing things like scroll speed and pause length. Oh, and feel free to play around with LED colors and frame styles!

Date & Time Display

Want to keep track of time? You can show the current date and time right on your banner along with various elements from RSS feeds like feed name or just the title alone—your choice!

Error Handling Made Simple

If something goes wrong (which is pretty rare), you'll see alert messages that help diagnose any issues. You can even log these errors for later review.

Light on Resources

The good news is that LED Banner doesn't take up much of your system's resources at all. During our tests, we didn’t run into any problems—no crashes or error notifications here! Just keep in mind that since Yahoo! has stopped updating its Widget Engine project, there won't be any new updates for LED Banner.
