Lens is a cool piece of software that helps network administrators keep track of their LAN. If you work in a medium-sized company, your job might look a bit different than someone in a large organization. But no matter where you are, knowing the status of your network is super important.
This tool lets you create diagrams of the local area network (LAN) you're watching over. That way, you can easily see how everything's connected and spot any issues with your network or devices.
Lens offers both a standard interface and a web-based one. Most of the actions are easier to do in the web version. The standard UI mainly helps you check that the address and port for your admin computer are set up correctly.
You can draw your network diagram right in the web window by adding all sorts of devices like laptops, monitors, printers, and even cloud services! Plus, if you've got special devices on your LAN, you can add custom icons to represent them.
While it’s great that Lens allows you to set properties for connected applications, figuring out how to do this isn’t super clear. A help guide or tutorial would be really helpful for users trying to set up their networks properly.
It would also be awesome if Lens let you import existing network diagrams. This would save time if you're managing a bigger LAN. Also, having background grids and options to automatically align devices would make things much smoother!
Even though Lens has some room for improvement, it’s still a handy tool for keeping an eye on smaller networks with just a few devices connected. Want to give it a try? Check out Lens here!
