mdcrack GUI is a lightweight Windows application designed as the GUI of the mdcrack program, a security command-line tool whose purpose is to help testers, administrators and users with testing the strength of hashed passwords.
This tool is particularly useful to those who cannot control a brute-force attack and set up the configuration data right from the command-line console.
The tests are carried out with the aid of brute-force attacks for 21 algorithms, such as MD2, MD4, MD5, HMAC-MD4, HMAC-MD5, FreeBSD, Apache, NTLMv1, MD4MD4, MD4MD4S, MD5MD5, MD5MD5S, PHP, PHPS, CRC32, CRC32B, and ADLER32.
You are welcomed by a well-organized feature structure that allows you to configure all of the testing parameters right from the main window. There’s no support for a help manual but you can make use of tooltips for viewing short description about the program’s functions.
mdcrack GUI gives you the possibility to set the verbosity, adjust the priority (e.g. high, normal, real time), pick the number of used threads, as well as save output data to a file (you may pick the saving directory). Plus, you can enable only the command-prompt mode.
The application gives you the possibility to show information of the default session, restore or delete the default session, disable the saving mode for interrupted saving sessions, encrypt sessions, find all collisions, as well as show or set session file, as well as resume a session with a single click.
mdcrack GUI lets you automatically detect the hash or choose between several preset algorithms from a drop-down list, carry out only a hash test, play a sound notification when the task comes to an end, as well as choose between several custom charset options and mix up the charset before using it.
Last but not least, the tool can be used as a raw benchmark tool for integer calculus, and you may select the number of passes.
Mdcrack GUI integrates a straightforward GUI for helping less experienced users assess the strength of hashed passwords without having to write command-line parameters.
