Part of the MITCalc suite, which bundles all sorts of smart tools for mechanical, industrial and technical calculations, MITCalc - Bolt Connection is a handy app designed to help you calculate and determine the strength of a standard prestressed bolt connection.
Before anything else, please note that this utility requires that Microsoft Excel is present on your computer's system. Subsequent to a typical installation process, it can be launched just like any other native Windows application via a common icon.
As is the case with most other MITCalc products, the tool's main highlight stems from its simplicity and intuitive environment. Basically, all you have to do in order to work with this app is input a set of information and project data in the dedicated sections, marked with green.
There's a special section for the results, as well, just as intuitive as the first one. The utility is capable of calculating the necessary mounting prestressing of the connection and fastening torque, various force conditions of a loaded connection, joint parameters for specific temperatures, as well as performing static and dynamic strength check.
It's also worth pointing out that MITCalc - Bolt Connection also bundles a super-useful table with commonly used materials of bolts, which is accordance with standards like ISO, EN, SAE, and ASTM. Last but not least, please note that the app is also quite CAD-friendly, by providing you with a few ways of exporting your work directly to most 2D CAD apps.
As an ending note, MITCalc - Bolt Connection is a useful application to have around if you're technical projects require precise strength-checks of prestressed bolt connections.
