MODBUS is a handy little protocol simulator that you can use to test SCADA and HMI setups with modbus RTU and TCP/IP. It’s got some cool features that are perfect for users who know their way around networking applications.
The best part? There’s no setup pack needed! This makes MODBUS super portable. You can save it anywhere on your hard drive, just launch the executable file, or even stick it on a USB flash drive. This means you can run it on any PC without needing to install anything first.
An important thing to note is that MODBUS doesn’t mess with your Windows registry or Start menu. No new entries pop up, and no extra files clutter your disk. So when you’re done using it, removing the app leaves no traces behind!
The interface is simple and organized. When you start it up, you'll see a list of all available addresses for holding registers right away. You can easily switch between viewing modes like coil output, digital or analog input, or extended registers.
You’ve got options! You can toggle between decimal and hexadecimal modes, change the protocol in use, enable or disable stations at the bottom of the screen, edit decimal values with just one click, reset all values to zero, and set up communication via serial or TCP/IP protocols.
I have to say, during our tests, we didn’t run into any issues. MODBUS didn’t hang or crash at all—no error messages popping up either! It responds quickly and gets the job done smoothly. It’s great for anyone looking to check out SCADA/HMI configurations and learn about Modbus protocols.
