MRT Files Eraser is a straightforward application designed to help you securely remove files from the computer to prevent third parties from getting hold of you personal information using specialized tools, like Piriform's Recuva.
It doesn't include complicated options or configuration settings, so it can be used even by those with no previous experience in this kind of software.
Installing this app takes minimal time and effort, thanks to the fact that there are no unfamiliar options, mandatory software tools, or third-party utilities involved.
Concerning the interface, MRT Files Eraser has a simple window with only three buttons. You can add as many files as you want to the task list, as long as they exist in the same directory.
After checking out the full path of each file, you can erase all of them with one click. The task shouldn't take long, depending on the total size of the items. However, the task list is not automatically cleared on successful jobs, and the program shows an error dialog if you attempt to erase already deleted items. It's necessary to click the corresponding button to clear everything to start everything from scratch.
It didn't put a strain on system performance in our tests, consuming a low amount of CPU and memory. We haven't experienced any stability problems, since it didn't freeze, crash or indicate errors.
On the other hand, MRT Files Eraser doesn't automatically clear the task list after successful tasks and doesn't let you add files from different folders within the same job. Moreover, it's not explicit concerning the security algorithm used for erasing files. We must also keep in mind that it hasn't been updated for a long time.
