MyArp is a cool tool that helps you see and manage your network connections right from your computer. It's similar to Microsoft ARP (Address Resolution Protocol), which is built into Windows. With MyArp, you can check out the ARP cache and find out the link layer address for a specific IPv4 address.
This command-line tool doesn't let you add or remove items from the ARP cache, but it does gather and display information about all the devices connected to your computer. After a super quick setup—nothing tricky here—MyArp opens up in a console window. It might take a moment to refresh, but once it does, you'll get a neat list of local IP addresses for each device linked to your system.
The list shows not just the IP address but also the name, type, description, and physical address (MAC address) of each device. You'll see separate info for active devices and those that are inactive. The inactive group keeps track of past devices too! This means you can find out when they were last seen because MyArp remembers their history.
If you want to make things more user-friendly, MyArp lets you edit device descriptions so you can give them easy-to-remember names. However, keep in mind that there's no feature to save this info directly to a file. Instead, if you want to keep some details handy, just select and copy the text using the right-click menu.
MyArp comes with commands for adding or updating entries in its database, deleting entries when needed, and even stopping device pings. Overall, it's an easy-to-use command-line app that provides valuable insights into your network connections without hogging system resources during our tests.
If you're looking for something simple yet effective for managing device information on your computer network, MyArp might be just what you need! It's user-friendly enough for anyone—even if you're not super tech-savvy!
