Developed in Visual Studio, NDBView is a portable MFC / C++ app designed for advanced PC users interesting in viewing the internal structure of .ost (Offline Storage Table) and .pst (Personal Storage Table) files, including headers, nodes and blocks.

It's wrapped in a simple interface that invites you to get started by opening an .ost or .pst file. It performs the analysis immediately and loads information in the main window with the header, nodes and blocks organized in hierarchical form.

For instance, you can find out the depth of a specific node. Double-clicking an entry from the list brings up a panel with in-depth properties of the selected node or block, such as its hexadecimal, binary and Unicode string representation.

You can view an address by indicating its type and size, or a node by entering the node's and parent's IDs along with type. It's also possible to examine AMapRebuild resume info, a scavenge area by setting the address and size (e.g. search free space only), the allocation map, BTree page distribution, BID ref report, statistics (page, block, node, general info) and a consistency report.

The program's packed in a single .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the hard drive or stored on a removable storage unit, in order to directly run NDBView on any PC with as little effort as possible. It doesn't change your system registry settings, create files on the disk without permission, or need DLLs or other components to run.

It was stable throughout its entire runtime, without hanging, crashing or prompting error messages. Information was quickly loaded while CPU and RAM were minimally used.

To conclude, NDBView supplies you with a user-friendly interface and options for analyzing .ost and .pst files. It's free.
